A MAV Advisory Board is an organizing/advising body consisting of five to eight (5 to 8) staff/faculty representatives throughout the university with a stake in being part of the solution to end violence. The goals of the MAV Advisory Board are to:

Develop a strategic plan for organizing a MAV chapter
Recruit men to lead the MAV chapter
Organize MAV Kick-off Banquet
Support the MAV chapter's work through providing resources, assessments, and advice
To be successful, the Advisory Board must have a diversified membership representative of the college/university’s student population. Additionally, the representation must be focused on four important aspects of student life integral in engaging mostly male populations around health related issues and violence prevention:
Student Health Services
Greek Affairs
Athletics
Drug Abuse Prevention
Representation from the following campus unit should also be considered:
Dean of Students
Campus Activities
Multicultural Student Affairs
Reserve Officer's Training Corps (ROTC)
Residence Life
University Police
Women's Center
Additionally, the following departments could provide representatives and other resources:
Department of Health, Recreation, & Physical Education
Department of Women & Gender Studies
Department of Criminal Justice
Department of Sociology
Managing expectations for a group this size, with several other commitments and priorities on their plates, can be a challenge. While is it ideal to have all voices in all conversations, it might be more realistic to recruit 10 to 12 representatives, expecting five to eight at each meeting. Furthermore, face-to-face meeting are ideal, but conference calls and video conferencing are also options. However, the first and last weekly meetings should always be face-to-face, if possible. The following is a timeline to be pursued by the organizer and subsequent MAV Advisory Board:
